For 35 years now, SPEX, the pop-culture magazine, is enriching the German pop discourse, a discourse, the magazine itself helped establishing. Following up the recent »Female-Issue«, published earlier this year, SPEX will self-critically broach the topic of justice in the pop business. This talk will focus on a problem that is older than the magazine itself: the still outstanding appropriate representation of female musicians and journalists in festivals, label-catalogues and in the music media. The three panelists approach these issues from very different perspectives: Sandra Grether founded Parole Trixi, one of Germany’s first Riot Grrrl-Bands. Today she is part of Doctorella and notably works as an author and activist. Balbina is a German lyricist and celebrated pop musician. Anne Haffmanns on the other hand is the German label manager for two of the largest and most significant indie labels in the business: Domino and Mute. Depeche Mode, Nick Cave or Daft Punk could already rely on her expertise and engagement. Activist Theresa Lehmann used to be in Femen. Her new project is called »Hinter den Brüsten« (Behind the Breasts).

Moderation: Torsten Groß (Editor in Chief, SPEX)

This talk will be held in German.
